Spam Filters
Get familiar with e-mail spam filters, the things they do and how you can activate them.
A spam filter is a software app that is installed on a mail server and monitors all incoming emails to stop any undesirable ones from reaching a specific mailbox. A few instances of such emails would be: offers for pills or money, false bank statements or email attachments that contain malware sent with the idea of damaging your PC. Email filters usually ‘scan’ the content of an email and when they spot certain keywords or other suspicious content, they either delete the email message or forward it to the Spam/Junk folder instead of the Inbox folder. Certain web hosting companies mix their own email filters with up-to-the-minute databases from spam-monitoring organizations, so as to ensure higher levels of protection for their clients. Such databases include patterns, mail server IP addresses and other info about spam emails recently revealed by these organizations.
Spam Filters in Shared Hosting
The protection of any mailbox that you set up in a shared hosting account with us is ensured by the advanced SpamAssassin filter that we employ. You can enable it via the Email Manager section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel and it comes with five levels of security based on the spam score given to each email depending on various criteria, such as the frequency of specific words and phrases, the sender, etc. If you keep receiving spam emails, you can always raise the level or if you’re afraid that you may skip a genuine message, you can combine the automated spam filter with a custom one and forward all messages from a particular sender to some other mailbox. In case you decide that you no longer need an email filter for a particular mailbox, you can disable it with just a few clicks of the mouse.
